What We Forgot
If you grew up with computers before the World Wide Web came
along, you might remember a fun, creative and wholesome computing
experience. Rather than dominating all aspects of our lives,
computers were fun to tinker with, an escape from everyday chores.
You didn't use them (or miniature versions of them) to book your
taxis in realtime or endlessly scroll neverending news feeds.
This page is about keeping that creative spirit alive. Remembering all
those things that made computing special, be it cool software
applications, fantastic books and in some cases, even awesome web pages. It is not
about only nostalgic memories, but how computing today can also be
utilized in this fashion. Sometimes, older is better!
My name is Rahul Batra and I am a computing history enthusiast. I
work as a software developer and live in Gurgaon, India. I am also
the author of SQL Primer, published by Apress in 2018.
